- Announcers
Why I decided these jobs will be suitable for me
Writers/Authors
Although I wouldn’t be the type of person to write a book I do like to write about different things, mainly fiction, in a way which could be incorporated into media. For example, I sometimes write scripts or basic plot lines for short films as well as creating my own character designs in writing. I also have written ideas for documentaries. Although I don’t have much experience in this subject it is something I enjoy and would be happy to develop my skills further.
Advertising
One of the first things I was told to do in my media course at college was to research advertisements and make an advertisement of my own from what I had learned. I enjoyed this task and have a good understanding of the advertising industry. I have also had the opportunity to develop my advertising skills further with later projects on my course and feel confident in this area.
Film and Video Editors and Camera Operators
Throughout my course I have developed my skills in video editing greatly, from not being able to edit a video to being confident in the topic. I have had experience editing in the majority of tasks given to me throughout my course, although a lot of them aren't to the best standard I feel I will greatly exceed what I have accomplished with more practice and better equipment/software. I haven't had much experience in videography. However, I have had experience in photography both at school and at college which could give me some transferable skills into videography.
Photographer
I have had a lot of experience in coursework both in courses and in my own time. I studied photography for 3 years in school where I learned camera operation as well as digital and physical photo editing. I have had a lot of experimentation both with how I take photos and how I edit them. In my own time I have gone out to photograph multiple times throughout the day to get different light and for the sun position to add more to my images either as a background or in the forefront of it. This will be an ideal job for me as I am both very passionate and experienced in the subject.
Companies and Positions in the Industry
BBC
BBC is a big public broadcasting service based in the UK, it has multiple roles that I feel would be suitable for me. these include: technical operators, shoot editor and producer.
Technical Operator: being a technical operator in the BBC would include at least one of the roles in Studio/Gallery Operations and will be able to undertake tasks across all technical areas after suitable training. The roles are Sound Mixer, Vision Mixer, Lighting Director, Technical Coordinator (lighting, communications and camera control),Co-Ord, Camera Operator and Floor Manager.
