What I know about BBC

The BBC follows the Reithian principles (educate, inform and entertain) .

The Charter defines the main objective of the BBC as the promotion of six public purposes. These are: 

  1. Sustaining citizenship and civil society
  2. Promoting education and learning
  3. Stimulating creativity and cultural excellence
  4. Representing the UK, its nations, regions and communities
  5. Bringing the UK to the world and the world to the UK
  6. In promoting its other purposes, helping to deliver to the public the benefit of emerging communications technologies and services and, in addition, taking a leading role in the switchover to digital television.

Why I want to work at BBC

I want to work at BBC as I see myself in a media career in the future preferably surrounding film and production. It is something I am very passionate about so it would be an ideal path for me to go down and a great entrance into the media industry. BBC would be a great place for me to apply my skills while also learning new skills, further develop my skills, as well as gain valuable direction knowledge. On top of that it is a local organisation with being based around England so it makes me feel even more passionate to be able to work at a local organisation which is also one of the biggest public service broadcasters in the world.

My skills

I have learned many valuable skills during my time in different work places as well as in college and school. This includes: time management, problem solving, communication, working in a team and prioritising.

Technical skills

Some technical skills I have are: photography, basic film camera operation, photo/film editing, basic lighting operation.

My Inspirations in Media

Will Smith - Willard Carroll Smith Jr . is an American actor, rapper, and film producer. He has been nominated for five Golden Globe Awards, two Academy Awards, and has won four Grammy Awards. He first gained fame from his rapping career under the name ‘The Fresh Prince ’. After the flop of his music, he went broke however he was approached by a producer who was working on a new comedy series which then went on to become ‘The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air ’. This went on for 6 seasons and by the end of the show Will decided he wanted to go into bigger shows/films and play more serious roles in: where the day takes you, bad boys, independence say, etc. He inspires me as he began broke, rose to fame, and got money to support himself only to go broke a second time and do it all again which would take a great amount of effort.
